Karl Lagerfeld is putting the ch back in chic with Chanel’s Seapunk meets French aristocracy styled cruise collection. I’m lost in a wonderland searching for the white rabbit, drinking potions, and growing largely in love with Lagerfeld’s voluminous ruffles and pretty pastel wigs. Karl darling, thank you for the modified creepers and fingerless gloves. You truly know how to impress a lady. Lagerfeld does me in with every detail, down to his rocker royalty bow-tied ponytails. The collection may have been inspired by Marie Antoinette, but Lagerfeld referenced Madame du Barry, Louis XV’s last mistress, who he’d dress up in men’s clothing. Antoinette however, didn’t like the countess. What a scandal, and here I am still gagging over Lagerfeld’s denim couture. Nevertheless, the eighteenth century bad girl themed collection was something out of a really chic fairytale. I totally loved it.

Everyone who knows me, knows that Bambi is my bitch. I love her and would kill for those brows. Just check her out in Elizabeth and James Textile, doing much justice in their super casual threads, BAAANG! tees, and those rad army print jeans with exposed zip fly. E&J’s stripped denim has got to be this Fall’s wardrobe staple. It’s a must-have for any and every gal this coming season. Denim on denim on denim, just the way I like it! This right here is model/blogger off-duty at it’s finest. The all black look is a die hard New York look but I’m crushing on E&J’s cozy looking sweater with leather padded elbows. The excitement for Fall is at an all time high.

It’s a cotton-candy dream come true! Marie Claire’s June 2012 editorial featuring Olivka Chrobot as the candy coated goddess. Shot by Troyt Coburn for Marie Claire Australia, giving me a sweet tooth for designer shoes like Valentino, Louis Vuitton, and Giuseppe Zanotti. Delicate dresses, pastel pants suits, and cheery pops of yellow that’ll make any easter bunny hop. With all this wonderful Spring weather ahead, taking us into Summer, it’s a wonder why I’m not coated head-to-toe in pastels yet. Slowly but surely, and I’m starting with my hair. I’m ready for white blonde with powder pink tips. Hello Summer!

H&M WOMEN'S FALL 2012 LOOKBOOK

Attention H&M shoppers, we have now arrived at our final destination, Knock-Off City. H&M’s Fall 2012 lookbook for both men and women has just been released, and their collection is better than ever! Although, I guess we have Alexander Wang, Céline, Proenza Schouler, and Phillip Lim to thank (please do excuse me if I’ve missed anyone). There’s no gripe about any of it, the collection is phenomenal, I almost couldn’t believe it was H&M. And where would we be without a good copy? It’s the sincerest form of flattery, or so I’ve heard. What I’m really concerned about here is how I’m going to get my hands on that burgundy baseball jacket and hat. I wonder if it’s faux or actual leather... Pink pointed shoes? I’m there! I am definitely into everything with the exception of the sequined dress below. Not my bag but I’ll take that hat instead.

I bet we can all agree that a man composed effortlessly in designer wear, sneakers, and a baseball cap is absolutely sexy. This isn’t a microtrend report, this is a news update. Manicures are everything, and if you’re like me, you’re totally into having talons for nails. I recently started going to Valley NYC to have full cover nail extensions put on, which were custom sized to fit my nail beds. Back during Fall Fashion Week I ran into Nikki Moose of Dirtyflaws who was rocking a set herself, and recommended I go. I was gagging when I saw how impeccable her nails looked. Totally chic, and totally fierce! Needless to say after my first appointment with Karen I was hooked, and now I want to spread the love.

Michael Lo Sordo, Australia based designer, known for his structured take on romantic minimalism, is taking Sydney by storm. Lo Sordo studied fashion and textile at East Sydney TAFE, and has shown at Australian Fashion Week since 2008. Lo Sordo’s collection this season was both elegant and enchanting. With the essence of Prabal Gurung and the delicate allure of Jil Sander, Lo Sordo has undeniably swept me off my feet. His white skirt with gaping slit at the knee, followed with thick metallic edges was sheer perfection. Lo Sordo continues to impress me with his razor-sharp precision on a few pleated dresses, they’re phenomenal! The vibrant prints and leather elements combined with those adorable metallic sandals definitely make for a refreshing collection this Spring/Summer 2012.

It appears as if I left my all black wearing days in the past, not really. All black goth-chic is totally my bag, but the seasons are a’changing and I am all for wicked bright colours. Keep in mind though, all shockingly bright hues are not created equal. To show you how it’s done I pulled some images from my colour Tumblr, Pas Noir and a few lovely style blogs like Alice Point. Darling Alice Zielasko styled herself famously in ASOS’ ombre blazer and pants suit. A charming way to pull a minimal neon look. Nail polish is another safe and sure fire way to don neons, they’re also a hit in the summer. Want to go for the bold? Zara just designed a stylish pair of stems in a t-strap sandal which I am lusting after super bad. Adding basic pieces like a beanie could really spruce up your ensemble. American Apparel has an obnoxiously bright yellow version that’ll surely gain you some traffic stopping stares. I know neons aren’t for everyone, so good luck... Also, feel free to send me your best neon looks.

Spring is here and has been playing tricks on us here in New York City, almost making it impossible to wear any leg bearing ensembles. Finding hope in Manning Cartell’s latest Spring/Summer 2012 collection, the pieces sent me reeling into nostalgic memories of Summer’s past. The collection is quite impeccable, replete with pastels, metallics, and embellished fabrics. Entitled ‘Pearls and Men’, their model is chicly suited in shimmery black pants, blazers, and fantastic collared shirts. Cartell’s dresses are a mix of both elegant and fun elements. The looks are transitional from day to night, paired perfectly with Manning Cartell’s gorgeous pumps. Everything from Cartell’s printed dresses, bra tops, and cropped jackets keep me hopeful for an amazing season ahead. I do have to say, right down to their model, everything is perfect! Summer, are you here yet?

“My Martin was a Maison, rocked Margiela with no laces.” ASAP Rocky’s hip to the shoe game, and these right here are a must have! Margiela has done these boots in tons of variations, but I finally caved when I saw them on SSENSE in a painted, transparent, high-top plastic version. They’re said to be 100% rubber plastic, I didn’t know such a thing existed. Needless to say these babies will be apart of my shoe family very soon. I love a good transparent heel! Happy Easter, look at some pink shit! Hehe just kidding. So what’s up with this ‘seapunk’ trend? Don’t think it’ll be around for long so let’s chalk this up to a microtrend if that. Whatev’s, I’m totally digging Grimes’ green hair, and those rad neon pops from Eszter, and Ivania. I too had the ‘seapunk’ hair color but I quickly realized it was better in theory than it actually was in life. My hair was ruined by the process. I do dream of white hair and hope to one day grow tired enough of my black locks to bleach my hair into seapunk godlessness! Hope you’re having an eggstra special Easter, seapunk style! Love you. xx

MICROTREND: BLACK SOCKS/WHITE PUMPS

It’s no mystery, Eszter of Stylorectic and Ivania Carpio of Love Aesthetics are my fave style gals. A few weeks back I wrote a post about my love affair with white shoes. Eszter made the feature with a great pair of Zara kitten heels. This time the girls are rocking their fresh white pumps with black socks. Eszter’s b&w look, worn with a creamy pair of Zara wedges resembling Theyskens’ Theory’s Ziggy Pumps, were styled with an opaque pair rouged at the ankle, while Ivania strut her Mango wedge shoes with a demi-sheer pair. Both looks are perfectly chic and definitely on the LCK Trend radar. I think I may go further and style mine with a little glitz via American Apparel. Glitter can be cool too ya know.

BloodMilk’s series ‘Sea Witch’ is set to be released in just a few weeks, and with the help of Audrey Cantwell of Ovate, the team put together a rad editorial. Styled by the Montreal based womenswear designer, Cantwell included some Ovate pieces as well. The editorial Blood Moon, featuring JL Schnabel’s jewels, was photographed by April Lea, beauty by Alexandra Apple, with models Adele and Max from Dulcedo Montreal. The macabre duo, perfectly paired, adorned the collection charmingly. Covered in twigs and sticks, as if two crows basked in a love nest cemetery. This is my favorite BloodMilk editorial yet! I’m excited to see the full collection. I’m always thrilled for anything BloodMilk delivers! Stay tuned...

MSGM PRE-FALL 2012/13

Prints on prints, on prints for MSGM’s Pre-Fall 2012/13 collection. A collection that was replete with florals, weird shapes, zebra stripes, zig-zags, and checks, Not to mention loads of multifaceted fabrics. Fur, glitter, tweed, metallics, what more could a girl possibly want in a collection? MSGM has delivered quite a magnificent array of skirts, and fun racer striped pants. If I had to narrow down my favorite looks it would be MSGM’s logo pullover and metallic skirt, their zebra cape and orange miniskirt, as well as their tweed jacket and pink striped pants combination. Yes, I have been wearing pink lately, I’ve even been wearing prints... just haven’t found a floral pattern I love. And even though MSGM does a lovely floral, it’s still not quite my look. But I would wear their spiked black pumps everyday of the week! They’re perfection!!

Is clear the new black? For me it certainly is. I’ve been favoring transparent materials ever since I bought Zara’s Court Shoe. The chic black pointed-toe pump with methacrylate heel has been photographed during Paris Fashion Week, and has been pretty popular on most style blogs. Another awesome transparent piece was a neck cuff created by Ivania Carpio of Love Aesthetics. Her DIY neck cuff includes a hinge and clasp hardware, so perfect! Eszter of Stylorectic got some sick clear tips from eBay. They look fabulous with her metal accessories. Lastly, Charlotte Olympia’s Pandora Perspex box clutch is sheer perfection (no pun intended). I’m in love with it’s boxy shape, and it’s genius interchangeable canvas pouches. What a great idea! You’ll always have a pouch to coordinate with every look. Are you digging the clear gear as much as I am?

Now trending, white shoes. You’ve seen the models this Spring/Summer grace the runways in their chalky pumps, yeah? I have, and I’m all about it. Alexander Wang, delivered and amazing heel during SS12, with a pointed toe and ankle strap. Céline gave us white two seasons in a row and I am thankful for it. You’ve seen street style bloggers capture stylish ladies rocking Louis Vuitton’s Merry-Go-Round pumps, and now I’ve found a pair by Zara worn by my favorite style blogger, Eszter of Stylorectic. White shoes are the new black. They’re sexy and still quite edgy when paired with proper gear. I’ll be giving this sexy nurse look all Spring my dears. Kiss kiss!

CELINE AUTUMN/WINTER 2012

Do I see punk rock, or even sportswear? Yes, in fact, Phoebe Philo presented Céline’s Autumn/Winter collection with major punk iconography and loads of sporty influences. Zippers ran down calves, opened up at the knees on trousers, and curved from shoulder to torso on tops. And the “punctuation” of the collection, Philo’s “Martingales,” which were the leather half-belts on all the coats. I especially loved it on Philo’s long sleeved leather top and on the back of that show stopping ridiculously gorgeous pink and navy fur coat. Jesus Christ, that coat was amazing! It goes without saying, that was my favorite piece in Céline’s entire collection this season. Side note: gold shoes, and Philo’s red tailed fur coat. I am gagging!

CHLOE FALL/WINTER 2012

In attempt to mix the casual vibe of English sportswear with chic French style, Clare Waight Keller aced. Oversized outerwear with rounded shapes in gorgeous powdery pastels like peach and mint were amongst my favorites. Keller delivers an impressive line of knitwear, having spent some time as the creative director at Pringle of Scotland, where her experience stems. I was surprised by the droopy leggings in orange, and most of the hybrid sweats, not a good look in my opinion. Chloé’s slimmer pants with triangle slits at the ankle, and the oversized trousers are where my focus was. The collection was very pretty but casual, Keller didn’t want the collection to reflect a “dressed up and strict” girl. Thankfully Keller came replete with those wonderful oversized dress coats, best way to cover up those trash bag shorts. Hopefully next season will be more up my alley.

Photographed in four of Lazorote’s emblematic enclaves in Canary Islands, Spain, Pedro Garcia found a way to blend the artificial with nature, capturing the spirit of César Manrique, a sculptor, painter, and architect. Garcia, along with photographer Daniel Riera, created a magical look book using the most beautiful landscapes as a backsplash to present his Spring/Summer collection. Gorgeous hues of blue, tan, refreshing white and sexy black shoes appear on rocks, plants, and spiral staircases. A fabulous collection, right down to Garcia’s studded sandals.

Shearling and leather stripes on tuxedo pants were just the tip of the iceberg for Niel Barrett’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection. The English designer known for his masculine-feminine play on women’s clothes, has gone oversized in such a good way. “It’s like taking XXXL men’s sizes and cutting them back onto girls,” Barrett explains. It’s a trend that’s been playing out this season and Barrett has seemed to perfect it with his rounded proportions. The generous cuts on coats, sweatshirts, and to-the-floor jersey dresses were amazing. Especially his floor length bevy with integrated cloak, reminiscent of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tom Ford gown she wore at the Oscar’s. Neil Barrett’s collection for Fall was endlessly chic in an effortless and understated way.

Anna Della Russo, Julia Bordovskikh, and Hanne Gaby Odiele have all been spotted with Jil Sander’s Spring/Summer 2012 veiled knit hat. I am totally obsessed with the veiled beanie and am desperately tempted to purchase it, but for a whopping $440, what would you do? Sander’s luxe cap came in black, navy, burgundy, powder blue, and white. I’m coveting the black version as you can see. It looks fantastic! I’m probably going to stare at these images a little longer, then suck it up and buy it. It’ll look wonderful with my new Arizona Muse inspired haircut. What do you think?

Nicolas Ghesquière has created a world where corporate workwear became play-wear. “Its an idea I’ve had for a few years, about corporate clothes, and business-dressing. I wanted to play with it. So I imagined a company, Balenciaga, Inc., and what all the different woman would wear there.” Ghesquière was definitely onto something. The boss-ladies of Balenciaga marched around in jackets with boxy shoulders, parachute-silk overalls, and my favorite, sweatshirts with “Join a weird trip” and “Out of the blue” slogans on them. “Those are industrial spies here to take over the company!” Ghesquière joked. It’s a collection from the future in maybe a few more years from now of what woman would be wearing to work. Will they wear this now? Only the stylish would dare, I presume.

RICK OWENS FALL/WINTER 2012

Classically made up models, with their pale faces and red lips were masked by veils resembling ski masks. Rick Owens was moved by brutalism for his latest collection, the style of architecture which flourished from the 1950’s to the mid 1970’s, spawned from the modernist architectural movement. The masks reflected “a brutalist veil” for Owens. And although he escaped back to black this fall he also presented color in this seasons collection, setting off the undertones from the bars of fire emblazoned behind the models. Owens did something to me with those elegant gowns and cropped leather jackets. He closed with an array of checkerboard patterned pieces, those I covet the most. His collection was both enchanting and fascinating, suggesting romantic gothic fantasies.
